Fire of Anatolia, whose source is Anatolia’s annual mythological and cultural history, is an perfect project that includes hundreds of folk dance figures and folk music collected from almost every region. The project, signed by Mustafa Erdogan, aims to introduce the fire that arises from the ancient Anatolian mosaic of love, cultural history and peace to all over the world. Fire of Anatolia, one of the world’s famous dance groups, has made a great and long-lasting attempt to achieve this goal, thanks to its international returns and promotional activities.
In 1999, Mustafa Erdogan, who took the first step towards an imaginary practice dating back many years, started the project, formerly known as the Dance of the Sultan. First, “Dancers are wanted” advertisements were given to newspapers. 750 people applied and 90 young talented people were selected from 750 applicants. It took to complete more than a year with a hard work. Costumes were prepared, music was completed. They worked with aesthetics, exercise, dietician and massage experts. Stretch and yoga were practiced. Studies concentrated on flip dances, baling, and modern dance. The dancers took theoretical lessons on the notation of Anatolian rhythms.
